Houston Room
The Houston Room features the office of Temple Lea Houston, early-day Woodward lawyer, and son of famous General Sam Houston of Texas, as well as a re-creation of the Houston Parlor.
This exhibit also includes the Houston Tea Set, which had been a wedding gift to Sam & Margaret Houston in 1840.
Highlights of the Temple Houston room include a beaded cane made for him by one of Apache Chief Geronimo’s wives and the volume of the “1893 Statutes of Oklahoma Territory” that Mr. Houston was carrying when he was shot. The book stopped the bullet and saved his life!
